c.1969 Buddy L Jr., No. 5129 Auto Carrier In Original Box
Late Buddy L, enameled pressed steel two piece auto carrier in original box. Unused toy in excellent+ condition. It comes with an all plastic Maverick GT auto, however it's incorrect for this toy. It should have a red and a green Ford Mustang fastback as shown in the box photo's. Solid truck produced during Buddy L's "made in Japan" era. Colorful turquoise baked enamel surfaces throughout. Has both original corrugated chrome plated metal ramps. Truck is "modern" cab-over style with transparent plastic enclosed interior. White plastic steering wheel is fixed to the dashboard. Has both original, and correct, Buddy L decals on both doors. It should also have a circular white on red letter "B" decal, but it looks like they were never applied. Trailer hitch is black plastic. Front bumper and grille assembly is chrome plated metal with plastic headlights. Tires (six) are vinyl with metal covers. Trailer section is two tier and enclosed with both horizontal and vertical supports. Two rear tires are identical to those on the cab. As I mentioned it has both car ramps which slide into slots located in the top, rear roof. It also has a swivel trailer hitch. The underside is stamped "Japan". The plastic Maverick GT looks great and is the right era for the truck, but did not come originally with the set. The two piece box has a corrugated cardboard sliding liner and a heavy glossy paper stock exterior. The remaining endflap also has a similar smaller photograph of the toy along with the catalog number. Text information was printed on one of the other larger panels. The other two were left blank (although one has two circular die cut holes in it). Size: 17¼" Date Sold: Aug. 2009
